Cairo:
‘A city of a thousand minarets’, Cairo the capital of Egypt and in fact the largest city in the Arab world, is population by 6.67 million people, its chequered past and up until today has been the centre of the regions political and cultural life.
Most famously, and of course epitomising Egypt; prominently nestled on the Giza plateaux are the Great Pyramids, and Sphinx. Being the oldest of the seven Wonders of the World, this cultural and ancient site is a ‘must see’ for most who want to explore all that Egypt has to offer, and for some, a visit to this captivating capital is truly an essential part of their tour.
Cairo, a city of truly ancient history, mutated with the hustle and bustle of modern life is pollution troubled, hectic and slightly manic; however offers an insight of the real Egypt today, and of times gone by.
7 Nights Nile Cruise and 2 Nights Cairo
Day 1: Using scheduled flights from Heathrow, you will be met and welcomed at Luxor airport by your cruise representative, then transferred, along with your fellow passengers, by air conditioned coach to your ship. On checking in, you will have time to relax and unpack after your flight, then enjoy a leisurely dinner, and maybe a few drinks to ponder over the week ahead. (Direct flights from Heathrow to Luxor are only available on a Monday)
Day 2 - 7: Please see 7 Night Nile Cruise Itinerary
Day 8: Disembarkation is three hours before your flight is due to depart for Cairo. This gives you time to check out and make your way back to Luxor airport. Should you have an evening flight, breakfast and lunch is provided. Your transfer will be with your ships representative. An hours flight, will take you to the historical capital of Egypt, Cairo. At Cairo airport you will be greeted by our representatives in Egypt and transferred to your hotel in Cairo.
We use a variety of hotels in Cairo, mainly within the Giza. The most popular are listed on the website. However if there is a hotel that you would like to stay in that is not featured, just let us know. Your representative from NTS will aid you with checking in.
Day 9: Hectic in nature, Cairo, a bustling city boasts the Egyptian museum, Sphinx and one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, the great Pyramids of Giza. 2 nights at a fantastic hotel, located in the Giza area based at the foot of the Pyramids, is just enough time to absorb the wonders of Cairo. We do offer a full day privately guided tour in Cairo, visiting the main attractions. Please inform us at the time of booking or up to a week before your departure date, should you wish to book.
Day 10: You will be picked up from your hotel approximately 4 hours before your flight home (traffic in Cairo is very busy) This giving you time to check out and make your way back to Cairo airport. Our representatives will have checked that your flight is on time, and help you to check in.
This itinerary has the option of adding extra nights in Cairo for not much extra expense. Making a 10, 11 or 12 night holiday.
